About Grove Chambers

Grove Chambers is owned and managed by Paul Warry, whose background in insolvency dates back to the late 1980s when he joined a ‘Big Six’ firm (as they were at the time) and was thrust into the world of trading receiverships, dealing with matters including retention of title claims, employee claims, preparation of sales packs and reports to banks.

In 2000, Paul passed the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency (CPI) examination with distinction.

Since then, he has worked at virtually every level of mainstream insolvency and across practices of very different sizes and structures. His experience also includes a 12-month secondment to the distressed property department of a UK bank.

Experience Beyond Insolvency

A period working outside mainstream insolvency broadened that experience further, including work in a start-up debt management business and advising directors and companies facing CDDA proceedings or liquidation.

In 2016, Paul became involved in an Employment Tribunal matter on behalf of a Litigant in Person. This subsequently led to several years assisting Litigants in Person with matters ranging from vehicle sale disputes and detailed costs assessments to six-figure VAT appeals.

Paul was previously a Fellow of the Institute of Paralegals.

His experience of contentious and investigative matters has included extensive work on matters which subsequently resulted in reported decisions, including:

A Practical Approach

That breadth of experience — in both insolvency and litigation — shapes the approach taken by Grove Chambers today. The emphasis is on practical, proportionate support: understanding what needs to be done, identifying the issues that matter and avoiding unnecessary process for its own sake.

Having worked with insolvency practices of very different sizes and structures, Paul understands the pressures faced by office-holders and their teams, particularly where caseloads are high, resources are stretched or a matter requires more detailed investigation than can readily be accommodated internally.

Grove Chambers was established to provide experienced additional resource in precisely those circumstances. The intention is not to replicate services already available within a practice, but to provide flexible support where an experienced pair of hands can make a tangible difference.

Work is undertaken personally by Paul, with findings and recommendations reported clearly and concisely. Where an issue warrants further investigation, it will be identified. Equally, where further work is unlikely to be proportionate or productive, that will be said too.
